Kinyoobi-con. What do I have to say about it all as it just recently passed. Do you really want to know? Okay... Here it is:

IT WAS THE WORST CONS I HAVE BEEN TO AND OR HELPED BRING TO EXISTENCE!

and believe me.... That is like adding insult to injury upon myself!

So what makes it all so achingly bad? Well here is a bigger question: "What did not make it achingly bad?!" To start I would first like to apologize for myself even being a part of the staff at the catastrophe, and this goes out to all of the fans. I wash my hands (my DIRTY, DIRTY hands) of the situation! I would like to thank Eddie Ballar for at least working alongside me and giving me pointers on how this mess could be avoided. But here are my reasons as to how I am driven to such madness!

1. Mr. Robert Axelrod: You would think that the guy who graced the screen as Lord Zedd in Power Rangers, and the guy who played as Armadillomon in Digimon as well as a host of other notable and classic anime such as Cowboy Bebop and Metropolis would have gained much more respect and admiration along with notoriety. But here is the poor old man sitting at his booth... SLEEPING! he should be treated like a man of nobility. I was about the only one talking to him and that payed off! I felt ashamed to even be a part of a convention that treated my favorite television villian as a child like he was a disposable item! For crying out loud, he was supposed to have a panel! But that never came to fruition as he sat in his corner in his slumber of boredom! They decided to hold his panel upstairs. Being an elderly man with weak bones, such an action as constantly walking up and down stairs would be a detrimental to his health. Think people... Its not that difficult!

2. The Karaoke room: This was a rage inducing piece of mediocrity. The Karaoke room was supposed to be one of the highlights of the convention for. I was expecting to see a room that was bursting with anime song delights. But what did I get? A room full of songs that had nothing to do with anime! There were thousands of songs yet only ten of them involved anything that even remotely related with anime let alone Japan! What a Gyp!

3. Disorganization!: This con was frustrating, pedantic, rushed, clumsily, unprepared, incompetent, and bursting with shortcomings! Everything was in a state of disarray! It was like watching a Dane Cook stand-up routine; Its frantic, and he tries hard, but in the end you feel empty and question why you were there to be a part of it all in the first place! The schedule was posted on a giant board when there should have been papers of the schedule printed out for the fans just like all of the other successful conventions! What are you trying to do? Commit Con-icide?

4. Artists Gallery: What convention does this? Tell me...

5. The dating auction: Come on! This is an anime convention and here you are auctioning off fans to other fans in a dating auction which is meant to hook-up fans with other fans, but in the end it seems more like a eighteenth century Southern slave auction! With such words as "bid" and "prize" which actually made my skin crawl. And the worst part is... THIS WAS THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE CONVENTION! Conventions are not there to hook-fans up together, conventions are there so that we, as the fans, could indulge in our passion for the anime arts. But here we have fans gallivanting around and buying and selling one another (albeit roleplaying) like cosplayed cattle. What is the world fan world coming to?

Well... There you have it. Putrid fan vomit which needs to be burned from our memories. Please keep reading on for more anime insight and remember folks. Anime is the way!

Just got back from a bet!

Hey otaku and otakettes! I would like to say that I will be posting something that will truly explain why I am an atheist.

Anyway, I would like to talk about something that the Otaku community has mixed feelings about. Bishoujo Games, and why some of us love to play them so much.
What exactly is a Bishoujo game? I have been asked this question many times and I decided that I would like to talk more about this subject.

A Bishoujo game is a game that features "beautiful" girls (Bishoujo means Beautiful girl; in modern terms at least) and the game usually consists of a male character (sometimes female) trying to gain the affections of the female of his choice. The male is usally viewed of as a loser and he usually has several different girls to choose from.

In the west, these types of games usually are not well accepted. I think due to the fact that in the west most gamers would want to blow up cars or shoot hookers. Bishoujo games however, have their very strong following with some of the people who call themselves Otaku. Yes, you can see several of us, lurking around dealers rooms to the dark perverted corners of the corridors of the convention to pick up the latest free spirited free love romp in which salivating virgin otaku may hope to deflower a sexually attractive chara. Playing and planning how they can put this into their everyday lives!

Those are just some of the stereotypes living around otaku and especially ones that play Bishoujo games. American gamers also ask the question as to why these misguided miscreants would even want to play such a self-pleasing, masturbation arousing game.

First off, not all Bishoujo games equate with Hentai games which are a genre of games in their own right. I would also like to bring to the forefront that surprisingly that there are even girls who play these games (I personally know one) even though the games are specifically geared towards a male crowd.

I would also like to say that one of the reason why a few individuals play these games is that they provide an escape from dealing with the negative effects of the opposite sex. Usually in Bishoujo games, female characters will fall in love with they main male character (or female if you are playing a shoujo-ai or Yuri game) all for altruistic reasons, all based upon just because he is a great guy. And some of them are just plain heartwarming.

The fact that aesthetics are also a prime point in Bishoujo Games is also a major plus for fans. Even for female fans which value relationships (some of them) in anime plot lines. Why would a female anime fan that loves shoujo anime not want to play a game that is all about building a relationship with an attractive female character? Okay, Okay, now I sound stupid. But it's great for lonely male otaku and might give them some courage to aim for the stars one day.

Pig Headed Chauvinist Otaku

This is my first post, and to anyone finding this page, I salute you! and welcome. For my first blogging adventure, I would like to talk about the negative aspect of Otakuism... The pig headed chauvinist otaku that plague our way of life and make the rest of us look like utter fools.

I have been a fan since I was ten years old. But it was around the time I reached my late teen years when I learned about how many self-righteous idiots in the world of anime fandom there are. Sometimes they seem so downright arrogant, pretentious, and stupid that I even felt like leaving the fandom.

It must truly be maddening to some of you fans who view yourselves as elitists; you must be infuriated when I challenge your claims that such and such an anime is the greatest, when in reality that is all a matter of opinion, not fact. That I did not like some overly-popular video game or manga which you view as simply sublime.

I have my own thoughts, feelings, and ideas and apparently to some of you, that makes you mad. Why am I saying all of this? because these type of Otaku; the arrogant, the elitists, the pretentious, the abusive fanboys and the hypersensitive fangirls, are a major problem in the otaku community.

Don't get me wrong, I am an otaku and being an otaku is downright fun in my book, the enthusiasm of anyone in the otaku community who loves what they do and does not care what anyone else thinks. Who minds their own business taking criticism with a grain of salt and enjoying the company of fellow fans and introducing non-fans to their passion; they, along with their enthusiasm for it all, is, in a ll honesty, contagious. It's a way of life, and a fun one at that.

However, otaku just cant seem to break negative stereotypes all because of a few bad fans who just cant seem to grow up. I talk alot with other fans, and when disagreements arise, instead of pounding down their ego with facts and ideas as to why they are wrong, I just brush it off and move on to the next discussion.

Some fans have to make it all so damn complicated! they will tear down anyone who does not agree that; "Evangelion is the greatest anime ever!" or "Final Fantasy VII is the best RPG of all time!" we have seen them all before and frankly, I am tired of them along with their notion that they have pushed into their self-polished brains that they are the final judge, jury, and executioner on anime, and anyone that disagrees is an ass.

One of the things that these sanctimonious fans do is browbeat what they call "noobs" or "newbies", without even once stopping to think that they were once in the same position as those they persecute.

Get it through your heads you childish ass-wipes, that without newbies, there would be no fandom! Of course they have not seen as much anime as you because they have not been fans as long, not everyone can be like you! Everyone has to start off somewhere. What I do is I teach them what being a fan is all about, the up's and Downs. I also recommend anime to watch while giving them elbow room to find out what the personally enjoy. Why not guide them gently so they can learn, instead of beating them with a barrage of hurtful words and expressions.

Next thing I would like to point out are those anime otaku that claim that Japan is the greatest country in the world, even though many of them have never been to Japan themselves. Japan, like the rest if the world is made up of people and people are not perfect, so you are bound to have problems. And just because anime comes from Japan doesn't mean that Japan is the greatest country in the world.
Does overpopulation, high suicide rate, declining birth rates, and the increase of child pornography seem great? well, those are some of the problems plaguing Japan.

So to all the fans who love what they do within the bounds of passion and enthusiasm while respecting other people I have to bow before you because it is tough dealing with assholes that make the rest of us look bad. If they keep up with such negative patterns of behavior, fandom will cease to exist due to the fact that anyone who is even remotely interested in Otakuism will be frightened away because of the arrogance of a few despite the fact that many would love to show a interested person the tricks of the trade.

Nobody is perfect and we all have our ego trips and dare I say elitist streaks (I know I do). But can we at least try to keep peace? Damn.
And to all of you fans that fit the category of elitist. Piss off. Go back to a secluded life of Otakuism at home, masturbating to an episode of La Blue Girl, and stay away from the anime community lest we forget you greatness and sit and listen to your tirades. Leave, lest you taint our image more than it already is.

First time on the blog!

Well...
